I have made some lovely cards for Crafting With Cristina's Challenge #20 Cricutless/ Stamping. This is a great chance to use pattern papers, stamps, stickers, rub ons, embossing folders and cutting dies! Use whatever to create an original project, just as long as you don't use an electronic diecutter machine AND feature some sort of stamping on the card (be it a sentiment or an image).
Does this sound fun? It's getting back to basics: totally hand-crafting, simple and really tapping your inner wherewithals. When I originally started making my own cards and scrapbooking (over 12 years ago) the products for this type of craft were new. There were few toys and tools available.
My son's first grade teacher is expecting her first baby. I am sure she is going to get every thing listed on her registry. I have made her a collection of Baby thank you notes. While I was creating my son was using my computer to watch a movie, so I had to go with the basics. I think we can get too dependent on the bells and whistles.
As I was creating the cards, I remembered Cristina's challenge. That encouraged me even more. I used many of the techniques listed above. I did tap my inner wherewithals and it felt so good to go back to the basics. It was fun! Here are some of the cards I made for our teacher that fit the challenge. I hand-cut the scallops. (Thank goodness for modern technology!) And the pacifier, baby and chick images are rubber stamps. An additional challenge to making these cards is that the sex of the baby is not known. Takes more thought to come up with cards that are not bias to one sex or the other.
