Tagging Along on My Blog-iversary

September 30, 2011

October marks my blog-iversary month. One year ago I joined the many of you in the internet world of crafting. Yeah! I have learned a lot of new techniques.
This is a heavy post. I am going to cover many areas. So be sure to read all the way to the end (sorry).

My initial dive in to this internet-crafting world was with a creative paper team that made hang tags. I did not have experience in this area, but thought it could not be much different from making a card. It wasn't long before I enjoyed and embraced making tags. My thanks to my grand friend Dee at Designs from My Heart for inviting me along to that team and encouraging me.

As it is the first of the month, it is time for me to present to you my challenge with my current design team: "made with love (and paper)." made with love consists of a group of gals that love paper-crafting! Each month we challenge ourselves to complete projects with specific requirements. We are a fairly new group to the craft world in internet land. This is our eighth assignment. Please stop by and do join us in this month's challenge!! You are welcome to submit your creation to the challenge.

The made with love (and paper) challenge for October focuses on the theme spooky. The requirements are stripes and polka dots, ribbon and/or fibers, stitching, and a tag. Hmm, a tag. As I thought about the requirements and how to use them, it hit me that a full tag would look great for my idea. Isn't it timely that the requirements for this challenge coincide with my blog-iversary -- as I am making a tag!! If you have read some of my recent posts, you have learned that our family does not do Halloween. Our creation is to be spooky. Personally, I do not think that black cats are spooky--but some people do. Here are my tags. You will see that one has stripes and one has polka dots for the background paper. That makes them more fun then spooky. But maybe the cloudy, full moon and black cats are spooky! Tell me what you think. (I had to pass on the stitching requirement. I could not figure out how to incorporate it.)

I love giving credit to the creators of the Cut Files I use. These are all free. I already had Penny and Eleanor's designs.
The other cats came by way of google search for free spooky cat images.
Grungy Tag, Penny Duncan Creations
Cat and Fence, Eleanor at SVG Shop
Cat, Digital Changeling
Cat, Family Crafts at about.com
Cat, Enliven Designs (blog seems to have disappeared, so this is the facebook link)

I am linking these tags up to:
The Cutting Cafe's CASE it Tuesdays
Digi Bistro's This to That Tag Challenge #7

While we are on tags, I want to show you the fall tags that I have made for my Swap group. Some of them will receive the spooky cat tags above and some will receive these more generic fall themed tags shown below.
