Fall.O.Ween

September 5, 2011

You do know that Halloween is upon us. The decorations are out, the costumes are in the stores and the little ones are already dreaming about candy!

In our family we do not celebrate "Halloween." At least not the gory side of it. We focus more on the fall, the harvest and thankfulness. We do attend a Fall Celebration at our church and the kids do dress up and (in past) have gone trick or treating. Again, staying away from gory. This year is extra challenging as we are trying to give up sugar for life! Extreme, I know. The goal is to live a more healthy lifestyle. When you read up on it, you'll be amazed what sugar does to your little ones and you. (Contact me if you want to know more about that.)

My friend Carley at The Real ICarley, is on the design team at The Digi Bistro. Carley introduced me to Digi Bistro. And I decided to join in on their "This to That Tuesday Challenge." The challenge is located at Cher's Studio. Cher is the owner and creator of The Digi Bistro. Did you follow all that?

The current challenge is to make a Halloween scrapbook layout. I am starting to get in to this scrap booking stuff. (Remember I am not a scrapper. Layouts are hard for me.) As I said, we do not celebrate Halloween. This layout is a two page spread, each page is 12X12. So I made more of a fall-themed layout. I hope you like it.

September 12: Edit
Thanks to my friend Paula at Scrap Your World, I have teeny glitter floating around my craft room. But I do not care. Paula is a fabulous scrap booker and gave me some great ideas. So if you have come back to see this layout, it has improved. But the picture isn't so great still. I also chalked some of the cuts. I "glazed" the caramel on the apple. I told you I am new at scrap booking. I need to run my layouts by Paula before I glue every thing down! Thanks Paula!!

Two Page Scrapbook Layout

The scarecrow is a cut file from My Time to Craft
The bears are a cut file from Creative Kuts. I added the "pumpkin costume."
The pumpkin is from the Pazzles library. The leaves are also Pazzles.
I drew the pumpkins and the caramel apple myself.
The little apples are from a hand punch (that does not have the brand on it).

I am also linking this to Patches of Pink link up party with a current them of fall/harvest. Join us..

  1. I love it Krista! I like you do not celebrate the gory side of Halloween. We do not think of Halloween in a pagonistic way. We have a Trunk or Treat at our church where they fill the parking lots with cars and we decorate our trunks as a theme and the kids walk through and get candy. It is really neat because people come from all over Hattiesburg even those that are not church goers. Thank you for mentioning me and playing along with us at The Digi Bistro!
    Hugs
