I often find myself in need of a quick card to cheer a friend. Again I can rely on the Pazzles’ Craft Room Library to speed my creative process along.
I used a stunning Butterfly file from the Craft Room titled Stained-Glass-Bountiful. This is another idea that I have wanted to try.
First I brought the Butterfly file into my Pazzles InVue software. I want the wings to be cut out, but I want the butterfly to be attached to the base of my card. I un-grouped the layers and deleted the solid blue layer. Next I set the thorax aside. Finally I erased a portion of the wings nearest the thorax.
Here you can see the difference from the original cut file to the end butterfly with some wing lines missing.
After cutting the butterfly, I cut the card size and then added the paper thorax back. (You might choose to draw antenna.)
You can also create a butterfly whose thorax is embossed. Here I used the regular cut mat with the embossing tool. I set at a blade depth at 1. Be sure to watch your blade depth and pressure. You may have to play with the settings to get the look you want.
It is fun to experiment with colors and embellishments. My finished card is stunning.
