Celebrating Summer In the Garden

June 12, 2013

I recently participated in an awesome swap. Our instructions were to make a single sided, A2 card--or one that does not open. The purpose of a single sided card is that you can embellish the card and still get away with one postage stamp. The theme is summer and we used this sketch from Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge blog as a starting point. (This swap is not in connection with that blog.

I have an amazing stack of paper from Recollections called Garden Harvest. It is on thick craft paper, almost like cardstock.

We had the option to make all the cards the same or not. I made each one different because I had my heart set on using this paper. That was tricky because the pieces were not all the right size to match the sketch. When you use a sketch (or recipe, as I like to call them), you are sometimes given the liberty to alter it. In that case it is used as a starting point. I opted to leave off the top pennant on the left side, as I wanted the graphics to be seen. For the bottom pennants on the right, I created the sayings in Adobe Illustrator (you can use Word) and hand cut them.
