It is the end of the 2011-12 school year. I think all schools are now out across the US. For this mom that means 80 more days until the first day of school (Sept 4 for this family).
We drive our kids to school. There is a school bus option, but what is a 10 minute car ride is a 50 minute bus ride. And although I like my kids 'away' that is too long on the bus.
However . . . I just finished a mini album in the shape of a school bus!! I participated in Creative Kuts' most recent Build A Project. CK hosts a BAP weekly. They kindly give you a free cut file with the understanding that you will participate and post a completed project at week's end.
Now, remember that I am not a scrapbooker, but this file is so cute, I had to do it!! I gave my school bus album a twist of Boy Attitude! The album pages are about 6 inches tall by 4 inches wide. I put only one mat per page. The inside mat will fit a 3.5 by 2.5 photo with a border. I made one goof. I really should have punched the holes for the binding before I started to embellish. Live and learn. It worked out ok. Unfortunately my craft store did not have the exact size rings that I wanted, so they are a bit big. It was fun decorating the rings. Being this a boy themed album--no frilly ribbons allowed! It was fun searching through my stash and junk drawers to find trinkets that spoke 'boy' loud and clear!! How many of you moms have found such fun treasures in the pockets of your son's jeans??!!
This album is for sale in my etsy shop. (my kids do not ride the school bus)
More detail notes:
I used vellum for the windows. Note that some pages have tires and some do not. I made the back lights slightly different then the original file. You will see a circle tag attached to the rings with the number 2012 to identify the school year. Well, enjoy. And join us for the next BAP at Creative Kuts.
