The "made with love (and paper)" Design Team
made with love consists of a group of gals that love paper-crafting! Each month we challenge ourselves to complete projects with specific requirements. We are a new group to the craft world in internet land. This is our fifth assignment. Please stop by and do join us!! You are welcome to submit your creation to the challenge.
For July our theme is summer fun! We can make ant paper craft we choose, but need to include sunshine and use a die cut and use a minimum of 5 colors. I am betting that the scrap bookers are thinking about summer layouts. I am not a scrap booker. But hoping to start on it this fall. So, I am in no way suggesting how you should create a layout. In fact I wish all you pros were here to guide me. I decided to make a scrap book layout. This is only the 3rd or 4th layout I have ever made. It was tough. I am not good at picking colors and even though I use a color wheel, I often raise my eyebrow at it's suggestions. One thing that was nice is that one of the papers I used (for the background) had 6 swatches of complimentary colors on it. That is handy. The brand is Recollections. It's the paper on the right hand side of the layout.
I did know exactly which paper piecings I was going to use. I chose the "Let's Swim Boys" cut from Creative Kuts. Look at them! Aren't they darling?! I love their stylin' swim suits!! I know that the bear with the flippers tends to blend in to his background--but I am not going to re-do it. I ran his body parts of that bear through my embosser. I would really like your opinion on his fur. Not sure I like that. Perhaps a different texture plate.

The other cuts on the layout were designed by me. I am new to creating titles. That is so fun!! You have seen my flip flops elsewhere. And the ball, bucket and umbrella were pretty easy to make. They are basic shapes. (Which is good b/c I cannot draw to save my life.)
I have two little boys and we are slowly discovering the beach this summer. They love to play in the water and build sand structures. I know I live in the Land of Lakes (Minnesota) but I am not keen on beaches. I perfer pools. Anyway, I will try to get some photos of the boys at the beach and I will tuck the layout away until I begin my scrap booking venture in the fall.
