The January 2011 Challenge for Creative Paper Artists fittingly revolves around the theme New Year's Resolution. We were challenged to use Acrylic Paint and Chipboard for our materials and incorporate the popular technique of Paper Tearing.
Again this was indeed a challenge. I could not picture these elements together. My biggest stumbling block was the acrylic paint. I don't paint. I don't do altered art.
I don't scrapbook, either. Not yet anyway. My mind kept getting stuck on the idea of a scrapbook layout. Now, I could fit the pieces together.
My New Year Resolution theme is "Spend More Time With Family." Family gatherings can make great scrapbook spreads! Our family just celebrated Christmas. There will be many more occasions to get together with extended family in the new year.
This is a 12X12 scrapbook page layout. The photo frames are 4X6 (so the photos have to be slightly smaller).
The word "family" and the embellishments are chipboard that came decorated. The photo frames are torn--giving it a "family heirloom" feel. I used the paint to (try) to create decorative swaths.
